The Hampstead Players Youth Theatre (HPYT) is the division of the Hampstead Players for young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Their first production was Dreams of Anne Frank, in April 2002. A cast of nine performed Bernard Kops' remarkable play in the Crypt of Hampstead Parish Church... "I loved the production. Erica and I were very moved and impressed by the acting of the entire cast. There was such a deep truth to all the performances. Please convey to them our warmest thanks and congratulations." Bernard Kops In November 2002, the HPYT collaborated for the first time with the adult members of the Hampstead Players, when a cast of 40 performed Lionel Bart's masterpiece, Oliver!. The show was an enormous success, not least because of the involvement, commitment and enthusiasm of the 20 young people in the cast. In May 2006, a talented new group of HPYT members brought the magical world of the Brothers Grimm to life, in a colourful and imaginative production of Carol Ann Duffy and Tim Supple's Grimm Tales. In addition to performing in full-scale productions, HPYT members participate in a programme of workshops, readings and other events, and host occasional evenings throughout the year, to which all members of the Hampstead Players, families and friends are invited. Further details of this programme of events can be found below.
The Hampstead Players Youth Theatre invites you to join them in celebrating their successful year at their first ever Revue Show this Saturday evening. The show promises to be a glittering evening of comedy, drama and music for the whole family in which we will celebrate the new skills and achievements attained by the Youth Theatre in 2007, which has seen it undertake its largest Programme of Events yet! The Revue has been put together by the young people themselves, under the direction of Matthew Stevens. The show will also include the presentation of this year's HAMPSTAs - the Hampstead Players' answer to the Oscars - only funnier! Nominations are now in and could include such sought-after Awards as Best Prompt or Most Entertaining Use of Emergency Improvisation on Stage or even Best Example of Scene Stealing Despite Having No Lines . Come along to the Revue and see if you have been honoured by your fellow cast members with a HAMPSTA! There are no tickets for this event. Instead, seats will be allocated on a first come-first served basis, so you are recommended to arrive early (doors open at 7pm) to get a good seat. The show is likely to last approximately one and a half hours including an interval. The
HPYT hope to see you there!
