Friday 6th June at 7.30pm in the Crypt Room Playreading: OTHELLO by William Shakespeare David Gardner leads a reading of 'The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice' (1604) by William Shakespeare. A domestic drama which always has a powerful emotional impact, the play has a claustrophobic intensity with a plot which gets going in the first ten lines. All the characters are alive, and illustrate love, nobility, evil, pity, jealousy, suspicion, pathos, dignity, prejudice, egotism, heroism, duty, reputation And then there's the extraordinarily rich - and strong - language. All will be welcome to a compact reading of this towering play - whatever age, gender, or, er, race. Bring a handkerchief!
